Ceo & Founder
John is what you would call an “interesting character.” Born in England, raised in West Germany, educated in the United States, a graduate of Purdue University, a retired professional engineer, a former vice president of a construction company, a former atheist, a husband and father, an avid runner, an information junkie, and an adult colorer. For reasons he reveals in his speeches, John became determined to shine a light on what we see, do, and feel while online.
That is the mission of FortSafety, a nonprofit he founded in 2017. In his talks, John uses his unique blend of humor, passion, and storytelling, to empower and equip his audiences with practical advice and digital life hacks. John was born in England, raised in Germany, educated in the United States, a graduate of Purdue University, a retired civil engineer, a former vice president of a construction company, a former atheist, a former addict, a devoted husband, a father, a runner, and someone recently diagnosed as a “scanner brain“. Inspired by the life that his daughter led, John decided to leave his engineering career behind and start Fort Safety.
John began speaking to parents, students, schools, businesses, and churches about the dangers lurking on the internet (check out our blogs to see what internet dangers we are talking about!)
When asked why he started Fort Safety John said:
“I realized that if my daughter was able to change so many people’s lives without ever saying a word…then why can’t we at FortSafety use our voices to do the same by creating events where people of all ages can get help. We all have a light inside of us that cannot be dimmed by the messes of life…especially the online messes. ”
