BULLYING

October 1

Bullying or cyber-bullying has been weaponized by social media and the internet. It has become our most requested topic at our internet safety workshops.

Parents, you play a huge part in preventing and responding to this issue…but don’t worry there are lots of resources online to help. Check out last week’s FortSafety blog called  Cyber-bullying- A Cheat Sheet  to help you with this.

ADULTS ARE BULLIED TOO:

Cyber-bullying isn’t just a child issue or something that happens just in school.

  • Adults are bullied at work.
  • Businesses of all sizes are bullied by disgruntled customers.

Fact: Bullying grows like a cancer and incites mobs to “dog-pile” onto victims who feel isolated and overwhelmed.

We may not agree with each other. We may not like each other. We may be jealous of one another…..BUT WE MUST RESPECT EACH OTHER…no matter what.

Last thought: respect and compassion have to be taught. Those human qualities have to be modeled to our children. We are not born with those qualities. Your children can’t learn compassion by watching a YouTube tutorial.
